Liquor License

Obtaining a liquor license can be a complex and detailed process, but with Permit Pro Solutions, you’re in trusted hands. Whether you’re opening a bar, liquor store, or any establishment that plans to serve or sell alcohol, we’re here to guide you every step of the way.

Qualifications for a Liquor License

  • Age & Residency Requirements: You must be at least 21 years old and either a resident of the United States or legally authorized to work in the U.S. A valid Passport, Naturalization Certificate, or Green Card is required when applying.
  • Background Check: A criminal record or deferred adjudication in the past five years may affect your ability to obtain a liquor license. If you have concerns about your eligibility, reach out to us for a consultation, and we’ll assist you in evaluating your options.
  • Household Requirements: If anyone in your household currently holds a BQ permit (Wine & Beer Retailer’s Off-Premise Permit), let us know before applying, as liquor store owners must follow specific rules.
  • Location Compliance: The location of your business must comply with local laws, including being at least 1,000 feet away from schools and certain other establishments.
  • Store Requirements: If you are opening a liquor store, it must have a separate public exit, and in some cases, cannot share walls or windows with neighboring businesses. Your store must also have at least one ADA-compliant restroom.

What to Bring for Your Initial Consultation

  • Business Location & Address: The exact address where the liquor will be sold, including suite numbers, if applicable.
  • Business Name Options: Bring three possible business names (e.g., 123 Store LLC, South 123 LLC) for submission. If your corporation is already formed, bring your incorporation documents and EIN.
  • Personal Details: Addresses and employer information for the last five years, as well as personal details about your spouse (if applicable) and any individuals over 18 living in your household.
  • Proof of Legal Status: Valid documentation, such as a Passport, Naturalization Certificate, or Green Card.

Additional Documentation Required

  • Lease Agreement: A copy of your lease and the landlord’s Federal Identification Number (EIN). If you are purchasing the property, bring the relevant purchase documents.
  • Investment Documentation: Proof of funds and the original source of your investment, such as personal bank statements or loan agreements.
  • Background Check: If you or your spouse have not lived in Texas for over one year, you will need to provide a background check from your previous state of residence.
